What Do I Do If I Feel Sad?

 

Feelings of sadness are normal to have, feeling sad more days out of the week than most is not normal. It is important to seek professional care when you are having feelings of depression or anxiety. I like to teach patients that depression is like a hole. You can keep digging a hole and the further down you get, the less light you can see coming in. Eventually you no longer see any light and it is hard to know which way to turn. But if you can stop digging while you see the light, it is easier to find your way out of depression. It is okay to ask for help when you need it. Seeing care does not mean you are weak or crazy, it just means you realize that a little help would make it easier.

 

 

Ways to help with depression:

 

  • Exercise
  • Medications
  • Counseling
  • Getting a hobby
  • Writing in a journal
  • Join a social group
